Balancing your weekly workload is important for everyone whether you're training for sport or trying to keep all aspects of your life in balance. If we do too much ______ (choose any of: exercise, partying, late night work etc) our wellness will suffer. I can't help you with the partying or late night work issues but when it comes to exercise I have a few tips on keeping in balance and the option to learn more by viewing a webinar.
Tip 1: If you're new to exercise go easy. Keep your intensity at a conversational pace for the first 8-12 weeks. This will help your muscles and soft tissue prepare for the possibility of harder exertion levels later on.
Tip 2: If you love electronics and data, you'll love learning about heart rate training. If you are more into the mind/body connection, you'll enjoy the meditative experience of using your respiratory rate to monitor intensity.
Tip 3: If you're training for performance know that most athletes go too hard on their easy days and too easy on their hard days. Understand the purpose of a workout and monitor your intensity so you execute it properly.
I held a webinar for our members recently to talk all about zones, breathing, heart rate and how to make it work for you. If you have a spare 18 minutes to learn more on this subject please click here.
