Event Packing List
Bin or bag to carry everything
Either a tri short/top combo or a swim suit/t-shirt option
Cap (bring own just in case one not provided)
Optional but highly recommended: sunglasses, pump, tool kit
Optional: water belt
Race nutrition (sports drink, gels etc)
Race belt for your bib number.
Body Glide (helps get wetsuit on/off)
Baby powder (helps in footwear)
Days Before Event
Study the race details online days before event
Event location and parking
Tzone and kit pickup location
Course: Maps, loops, entries, exits, aid stations
Where to fill water bottles
Timings: Tzone opening, race start, orientations
Info on race orientation talk
Arrive 1.5 to 2hrs before event
Make a day of it!
If it's a sunny day, put on sunscreen early (ie upon arrival at the site).
Race kit pick up
If possible, pick this up the day before the event
Your kit will likely include:
Race Number: Put it on either…
Race belt: back on bike, front on run
T-shirt: front of bike/run shirt
Possibly a swim cap for use in the event
Timing chip: Take your bib number to timer’s tent to get your timing chip.
Body marking: Go to the body marking table and follow directions there.
Check Your Bike
Take your bike for a very short ride (not in Tzone) to make sure everything is working.
If there’s a problem you can’t solve, find bike tech support location.
Leave the bike in an easy gear.
Take bike and equipment to Tzone
Find your rack (ask the volunteers for directions)
Hang you bike on the rack either by the handle bars or seat
Set up your equipment on the ground to one side of bike
Try to use no more than 2 feet of width
Set up in order of use: clothing, race belt, bike shoes, helmet, running shoes, hat, water belt, bag, towel
Check all adjustments (buckles, laces etc)
Advanced: cycling shoes in pedals, baby powder in shoes
Walk through the transition pathways to/from your rack spot
Head down to the beach for a warm up and your race start.
